This hand-stitching baby-carrying strap with distorted double-well patterns is made in the typical style of straps of the Dong people in Jiangxian County, Guizhou. It is composed of a kerchief, the main body of the strap and ties. The Dong people love and respect wells. The well patterns originated from Dong ancestor's worshiping of water. Their ancestors, the Luoyue people, originally lived by rivers and lakes. They were closely bound up with water. Due to the difficulty in fetching water after they moved to mountainous regions, they could only rely on wells. The well patterns embroidered on their clothes reflect their worship of wells. This baby-carrying strap is designed with double-well patterns, which imply flourishing population as continuous spring water.
