Gilt Lacquer Plate with Boat Patterns presented by Agricultural Bank of Thailand in 1986
Thailand has long coastlines. Boat is quite commonly seen in people's daily life. Thus the pattern of boat has also become a frequent caller on gilt lacquer plates. The ship on this plate has a highly-raised bird-head-shaped stem and a bird-tail shaped stern. 20 people are working hard together in paddling. The middle part of the boat is installed with a lattice table, on which there is a director holding a feather rod in his hand. A person is dancing at the stern. The entire design presents the scenes of a celebration, which not only demonstrates ancient people's heroic undertaking in crossing the ocean, but depicts the memory about ancient Thai people ploughed through terrifying waves and arrived at new residence.
